Emilia - 11 months 2 weeks

This week ---

You started to shake your head no!  I was joking with you last Sunday when I was drying my hair - I would shake my head near you to get you to laugh, and you would start shaking your head back.  I thought it was just a game, but this week you figured out how to shake your head to answer 'no'!  When you are done with food or don't want something - you'll shake your head no.  It's rather helpful :)

You stood up on your own for about 5-8 seconds.  I had put you down near a toy and I thought you were holding on, but you were standing completely on your own!  You have been starting to try to stand up from your kneeling/crawling position.  You are really working on your balance, and love to pull yourself up in your crib and other places around the house (especially the stair railing in the kitchen) - so we are all certain that you'll be standing on your own by your birthday!  I can't believe you are this close to turning 1 year old!

Sleep has continued to be an issue - you seem to always be cutting a tooth (you have such a mouthful) and with cutting teeth, you seem to get ear aches.  Not fun.  You really have a hard time sleeping with these - so a lot of nights I'm up anywhere from 2-4 times with you to nurse and get you back to sleep.  Sometimes you go right back to sleep...sometimes it's an hour or more for you to settle back into a deep sleep.  We are tired girlies you and your mom some days from those crazy sleep-less nights!

You are a fast-fast crawler!  I have to constantly watch where you are going, we have to barricade the stairs, entrances into the rooms you don't want you in - and if it has a door, it usually stays closed to keep you out of places like the bathroom and mom and dad's bedroom.  You especially love to race over the cabinet under the sink and open it up to try and get to everything under there.  I have the kid locks sitting on the counter - we just haven't gotten to put them in yet, but you help me realized many times each day how much I wish those safety locks were already in!

More than anything - we all love you so much!  Madeleine said it perfectly the other day - she said you are busy and everywhere, but that you bring such peace and happiness to our home & family.  She said that none of us can help but smile when we see you --- and how right she is!
